But if you can't get assistance from the manufacturer on a new product, best to go with another product. I don't really know if it is a good printer when it works. I was told a new printer would be sent out immediately. It worked fine. Still didn't work. No call.
Returned printer and cartridges to Amazon. When I arrived at my destination it didn't work. More time on chat. Three weeks later, after business trip and no printer, more chat. Spent almost an hour on chat with Tech assistance going through a useless protocol and then was told the ink cartridges were expired. I plugged it before I left on a trip.
Bought new cartridges. I was told someone would call me within 24-48 hours.
The printer is ideal for our use, because of it's small size, ease of operation, and setup. I decided to buy the HP mainly since we have had pretty good luck with their products. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I feel that a company like HP that's been in the business for a long time, could have better quality control, and put out a better product. I shopped around for quite a while before deciding on the H470. I had been looking for a nice small, compact printer for our laptops, to take in our camper as we travel. The printing speed is good for such a small printer, but the quality of the printing is poor, with groups of words that are wavy, and some that look like italics.
What good is portable wireless printer if the only place it is conveinent to use is at home.I might as well just use the regular printer. So, if you were a dingbat like me, and spent the extra $95 for the battery.to make it completely travel and mobile ready.you'll find that was a waste of time. See "second."Second, the wireless transmitter provided must hook up and communicate through a router (not the computers wireless receiver).SO.That means you have to re-load the disk and set up the device EVERY TIME you use it wirelessly.like in a hotel, at the restaurant.EVERYWHERE. Then we can talk. Well, first the wireless transmitter that comes with it. does not even work at all with windows 7 (even though they advertise it as so) HP support and drivers confirms that and says "Use the USB cable hookup until drivers are available.".I'm still waiting for the Vista drivers on my last HP printer. After I found that out, I got rid of the HP with windows 7 and used my old laptop (with vista)but there was STILL a problem. For in order to actually work like a "Mobile" printer should, you'll have to buy the bluetooth transmitter.which works on ANY printer So, why spend 4 to 8 times as much. For those of you thinking to buy because you travel and need a printer on the road (like me).just buy a cheap $60 printer every trip and don't waste the $299 they are asking for on this.Unless you'd like to buy mine.
Machine is expensive and for this money you should get much better quality. I do not recommend this model. The print quality for a letter on very high quality paper is at best average. Rather comically HP tech support suggested that I not use the updates as they have a lot of problems with the H470 and related updates. It took several installs and reinstalls to get the software to work - the printer kept mysteriously showing up as "disconnected". This unit was a great disappointment. Then when I downloaded updates they sent the printer into disconnect yet again. One has to constantly check the paper feed as the machine fails to pick up a sheet quite often or inexplicably jams.
I have a new HP Windows 7 computer, but this printer will not work with it since they have not yet created a compatible driver. Although this product is listed as compatible with Windows, it is not compatible with Windows 7. Waste of time, and HP does nothing to make up for that little advertising error, just sends you back to Amazon.
